The Beginning
In the beginning Aine, the first light, created the world of Asmiara after she sprung from the void. She created six creative concepts---ideas that she believed would help her creation flourish and grow. There were mirror of her brothers and sisters within the void--destructive concepts, whom she felt were just as necessary for the development of her people. She created twelve clans. Six for the creative concept and six for the destructive concept. The creative concepts ruled directly over their clans while the destructive concepts choose someone to rule of theirs in their stead. She, also, created the city of Aserora-a great circular city where all the calns lived in their own separate sections upon the island of Skosial. She hoped that the would spread across the planet and create people of their own.
They would in time. Each creative concept created a race of their own. The first were dragons created by magic. The other creative concept followed suit. These people would eventually spread across the world and create the different societies that populated Asmiara. The truth of their beginning was lost within the sands of time. The witches came to believe that there were only ever six original clans--each for the creative concepts that Aine created, and the city of Aserora--if they knew about it--was nothing more than a mystical city that represented the ideal witch society, or world--where all people upon Asmiara lived together in harmony. It was an idea that many witch leaders tried to illuminate in the building of their own cities.
For Shai, however, the city of Aserora was more than a mystical place. It was home. He lived during the time when the city was the center of the witch's world. He was more than your ordinary witch. He was the concept of fate, and it was for him to ensure that his people walked down the path that continued their growth rather than lead to their destruction. It was a duty that he took very seriously, and one that lead many people to regard him as a very controlling and even demanding man. Some people found it hard to live up to his expectation and even perished beneath the pressure he placed upon them, but he believes those that survived were made stronger for it. He was the most harsh upon his children--whether they were born from his seed or created by his own hands.He had to be. He saw his children as extension of himself--whether or not they had inherited his powers--and had to ensure they upheld more than his conduct but were worthy of his blood.
He would not acknowledge any children that failed to live up to his expectations. Through, the children he did acknowledge might feel as if they failed to live up to his expectations. He was not a man known for his praise, and often times when he gave a compliment to his children it came off as a criticism. Some argue that the child that received the harshest treatment was Sereia--the first mermaid and his creation. There was a reason for this. Sereia was more than his seed. She was the greatest extension of himself. She was the one that he relied upon the most to ensure that his people continued to thrive even when he is removed from the picture. He did not foresee his death--even through death would find him. Shai believed himself to be immortal, but he was not a foolish being and believed that one should prepare for any outcome. There were countless ways for him to be removed from the pictures besides death.
He ruled over the Aysea clan for many years taking many lovers to his bed, but only three every completely captured his heart. The first was the concept of imagination and his first wife for the longest time. The second was a girl with eyes of the most breathtaking purple whom died bringing his very first son into the world. The finally one was the daughter of nature. A woman by the name of Iolana Darzi. He came to love Iolana more than imagination. No, more is the wrong word. He didn't love Khayal less. He just came to realize that the love he bore for her was different than the one he held for Iolana. The feelings was mutual. While Khayal adored him she did not have a great romantic affection for him. They agreed to take the ones they held in such regard as their first spouse.
The End
Iolana was married to Shai for many years as his first wife, and provided for him several children during those years. Aside from Khayal, she was the only being that could elicit a gentler treatment from him in regard to his children. In fact, many people said that she was so good at bringing his softer side to the surface that they would bring any issues they knew would incite his wrath to her first knowing that while it not might completely eradicate his rage it would severally lessen the blow associated with it. Their happy live came shattering around them when death decided to steal one of them away. Death did not come for the one they and everyone else might have expect. It did not come for Iolana. Instead, it would be Shai whom dies.
His end came when Devaraj--the son of the first dragon and a witch--decided to rewrite the world and create one free of pain. He was a being in tuned to the world around him. He felt its pain as accurately as his own. Added to the fact that he felt betrayed by the two people he loved the most--the woman he planned on marrying and his own twin brother--lead him to decide to march across the world bringing destruction within his wake. The concept knew they had to stop him, and the answer to how they would do this was obvious. Yet, magic did not want to go down that path. She loved Devaraj like her grandson and did not want to kill him. Instead, she looked for another way to end his reign of terror.
And found one she did. She found a spell that would create a world for him. One he could forge in his own image and would be free of the pain that haunted him within this one. The only thing was that this spell required a great deal of power. It would require her to give up her existence---a sacrifice that magic was more than willing to make. However, Shai believed that this was a bad idea. He believed that the concept had to stay within the world in some form and this spell would completely erase her from it. If that happened the world they had fought so hard to protect would unravel all around no matter what they did to prevent it. He did not reveal these thoughts tot he other concept. He didn't need to. They, like him, felt that it was a bad idea. They decided that each of them would give up a portion of their power to the spell believing that with the six of them that they would emerge more or less intact.
Shai, on the other hand, suspect that the price of this spell was steeper than any of them realized sought Iolana out to spend what he believed was going to be his last night with her. It was during this moment that he gave her an necklace with an amber stone the exact same color as his eyes so she would always have a piece of him with her, and to always listen to the rain for that is where he will always speak to her no matter where he might roam. His suspicions was right. The spell took more than a small piece of their power. It took their immorality. Shai died not knowing if he would ever walk among his people again. None of the concept knew this. They believed that their essence would spread across Asmiara influencing their people as ideas rather than physical entities.
